American Council Opposes Needle Distribution Program in Placer County

Rocklin, California - American Council President Tanner DiBella issued the following statement after the Placer County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a Sacramento organization (Safer Alternatives through Networking & Education) had applied to the California Department of Public Health to create a hypodermic needle distribution program for illicit drug abusers in Placer County.

"The data is clear: increasing drug access increases drug abuse. We vehemently oppose needle dispensaries and call on the California Department of Public Health to heed the advice of our local sheriff's office by denying the application."
