American Council Releases Statement in Response to Morocco Earthquake

Rocklin, California — American Council President Tanner DiBella issued the following statement after a powerful earthquake in Morocco claimed 2,000 lives, and the numbers are rising. The magnitude 6.8 quake hit Marrakesh and many towns on Friday night. In remote mountain areas, entire villages are reported to have been flattened.

"Our hearts are shattered to hear of the devastation in Morocco. As thousands grieve such staggering loss, we pray for the comfort of God over the Moroccan people. In moments like this, I am reminded of King David's words when he says 'The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.'"
