American Council Responds to the California Attorney General's Lawsuit Against Pregnancy Centers
Rocklin, California — American Council President Tanner DiBella issued the following statement after California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit against a pro-life ministry and five pregnancy centers. The lawsuit alleges that these organizations used misleading claims to advertise a procedure called abortion pill reversal.
"The Abortion pill reversal is a lifesaving treatment that protects women and their unborn child. As a pro-life advocate, I have witnessed the abortion pill reversal save the lives of children. The fact that A.G. Rob Bonta is seeking to block these treatments is an egregious attack on women, on children, and on the medical community. I call on every common-sense Californian to stand up and speak out. The Attorney General should resign immediately."
The abortion pill reversal is a life-saving medical treatment that has helped thousands of women save their unborn child after deciding to have a chemical abortion. According to the American Pregnancy Association, "Progesterone, used in the reversal process, has been safely used in pregnancy for more than 50 years. Initial studies show that the birth defect rate in babies born after the APR is less than or equal to the rate in the general population. Neither mifepristone or progesterone is associated with birth defects [ ...] The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) believes that the procedure is safe and significantly more effective than [other treatments]."
