Roar Across California: American Council Announces Initiative to Donate Book to Every Public Elementary School in California

Sacramento, California — On Friday, December 8th, American Council President Announced a new initiative, Roar Across California, to donate the children's book Leo the Lion to every public elementary school in California.

In April 2023, The American Council published a new children's book, Leo the Lion, by Tanner DiBella and Morgan Barr. In his launch post, DiBella said:

"As the world wrestles with confusion, doubt, and fear — how can we teach and empower kids to live in truth? Last year, I wrote a children's book to convey Biblical principles on identity. Today, Leo the Lion — my first children’s book — is published!"

Leo the Lion is a powerful story of a cub who questions his identity and worth because he can’t run as fast as the other cubs in the herd. He concludes: "If I can't run like a lion, I mustn't be a lion." The confused cub goes on a pilgrimage to discover who he is and finds it in an unlikely place. This story will instill in children that our ultimate identity and worth is not in what we can do but who we are. Leo the Lion teaches that our identity is found in Jesus Christ, comforting a widespread cultural lie.

In a statement launching the book initiative, American Council founder Tanner DiBella said:

Amidst a growing identity crisis in children and youth, there is a need for truth. We grumble at the unsavory material available to our children in public school libraries — but rarely do we offer worthy alternatives. Our "Roar Across California" campaign is about equipping parents to teach truth, and empowering children to live in it.

There are 2,768,614 elementary students at 5,857 public elementary schools. The American Council is expected to invest at least $70,000 into the campaign, which would provide a copy of Leo the Lion to every public elementary school in California.
