Statement from American Council President on the Passing of Congressman Doug LaMalfa

Rocklin, CA, January 6, 2026 — Tanner DiBella, President of The American Council, released the following statement this morning following the sudden passing of Doug LaMalfa, who died from an aneurysm.

“Congressman Doug LaMalfa was a man of conviction and courage. He was a committed Christian, a principled public servant, and a fierce advocate for the values he believed were essential to the flourishing of people and nation. He did not separate his faith from his leadership, and he did not retreat when clarity required courage.

“Over time, Doug and I developed a genuine friendship. Just this Christmas, he gave me a congressional ornament, a small but meaningful gesture that reflected his character. He was intentional, gracious, and present, even amid the weight of public office. I will keep that ornament as a reminder of his faithfulness, his kindness, and the seriousness with which he carried his calling.

“Doug honored The American Council by speaking at our recent Gala on December 14th, one of his last official events. Those in attendance witnessed a leader who spoke plainly, faithfully, and with resolve. That moment now carries even greater weight, reminding us that leadership is temporary, but faithfulness leaves a lasting imprint.

“In an era where compromise is often celebrated as wisdom, Doug modeled integrity. He served with conviction rather than convenience, and with courage rather than calculation.

“My prayers are with his wife, his family, his staff, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him. I also pray for our nation and for the Church, that God would raise up leaders marked by the same moral clarity, humility, and courage that defined Doug’s life.”
