The American Council Responds to White House Proclamation of Transgender Day of Visibility
Sacramento, California — Tanner DiBella, President of The American Council, released the following statement after President Joe Biden announced March 31st as Transgender Day of Visibility.
“On Sunday, March 31st, millions of Christians will observe Easter, the most holy day of the Church, to honor what Jesus Christ did to atone for our sins. We are saddened to hear that both the White House and the California State Legislature have declared that day as Transgender Day of Visibility. If you remember, the Transgender Day of Visibility became the Transgender Day of Vengeance in 2023, when supporters and activists were calling for physical violence against any group or individual who disagreed with their ideology. We call on our leaders to respect and honor our Holy day, and leave the political pandering for another."
On March 29th, President Biden released the following proclamation:
"NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility. I call upon all Americans to join us in lifting up the lives and voices of transgender people throughout our Nation and to work toward eliminating violence and discrimination based on gender identity.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-ninth day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-eighth."
