School Boards Across Placer County Cease Partnership with the Landing Spot
Loomis, CA — On Sunday, a video surfaced of a Placer County Reverend who admitted to teaching children about sexual identity and gender without parental consent or knowledge on school campuses and through referrals from school 'wellness centers.' The Reverend led an organization called The Landing Spot, which garnered controversy last month due to a planned underage drag show on the Roseville High School Campus.
The American Council quickly mobilized thousands of parents and concerned community members about this egregious disregard for parental rights.
These wellness centers are suppose to be a safe place where students, parents, and staff can access supports and resources to promote positive mental health. Instead, they have become a place where students are being proselytized without parent consent.
On Monday and Tuesday, three Placer County School Districts representing 34 schools announced the removal of the Reverend and his organizations from school campuses. The school districts include Western Placer Unified School District, Placer Union High School District, and Roseville Joint Union High School District.
The Western Placer Unified School District, which is a Lincoln-based school district, contacted parents and families.
...given the troubling statements made by Reverend Tinnin-Martizen, we have ultimately chosen to cease further operation with The Landing Spot and their volunteers.
Pete Constant, the Roseville Joint Union High School District President, announced a potential investigation into The Landing Spot.
Given statements by Pastor Tinnins in the video, along with other related concerns, RJUHSD staff has contacted the Roseville Police Department and Child Protective Services to advise them of the matter so they can ensure no students have been harmed.
Tanner DiBella, the President of The American Council, thanked the school board trustees and the community for doing the right thing.
This week, the Placer community made a bold statement: we value the rights of parents, the protection of students, and transparency of education. Thank you to the WPUSD, RJUHSD, and PUHSD school board trustees for quickly responding to the news with clout, wisdom, and visibility.
